![]() Canadian Environmental Auditing Association 2005 ISO 14001 Colloquium II Report On October 25th to 27th, 2005 a Colloquium, sponsored by the Canadian Environmental Auditing Association, the University of Manitoba, Manitoba Hydro and the Standards Council of Canada, was held in Winnipeg. The Colloquium was by invitation only in order to establish an optimum working session as well as to attain the necessary, broad range of perspectives. Approximately 40 participants, representing a cross-section of several industry sectors, including electrical utilities, environmental industries, mining, forestry, transportation, agriculture, academe, registrars, certifying bodies, consultants including auditors, and environmental and consumer NGO interests in Canada, participated. Several issues around the current practices related to ISO 14001 and its future, spawned the initial Colloquium held in October 2002. Colloquium II grew from issues expressed at Colloquium I and issues which arose since 2002. The participants saw this as a critical This report details the 5 key topics and addresses several of the messages from the discussions developed under sub-themes for each topic. The detailed information in the report is based on the notes taken for each discussion group and directly reflects what was stated by the participants. The report attempts to convey the range of positions and opinions provided during the Colloquium for each topic and sub-theme. In some instances not all discussion groups discussed the same specific details of each sub-theme so on occasion only one or two discussion groups perspectives may be reported. Each topic session begins with a summary which is consistent with the summary report developed shortly after the Colloquium.
