Business Unit Manager, Lethbridge/Medicine Hat, Alberta

The Role

In the thriving 75,000-person town of Lethbridge and the successful combined Business Unit of Lethbridge/Medicine Hat, the successful candidate will have responsibility to grow and sustain business and marketing goals; to oversee consistent delivery of superior client services; to manage, develop and support a technical staff who are professionally involved in materials, geotechnical and environmental activities.

Long-standing client sectors in Lethbridge include: the provincial government (highway surfacing, pavement design), energy (oil, gas and wind), municipal government infrastructure (roads, sewage, lagoons and bridges) and commercial development for both a local and national client base.

In Medicine Hat, current client sector focus is residential and commercial development which requires strong geotechnical and environmental (Phase I-IV) capabilities; the energy sector, specifically natural gas and the municipal sector.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in geotechnical engineering
• currently registered as a P.Eng. with the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta
• sound capability in geomaterials
• a minimum of 8 years following undergraduate graduation, or 6 years following post-graduate education of progressive consulting experience providing geotechnical, geomaterials and, hopefully, environmental engineering services
• superior business development capability
• sound business management capability
• superior project management capability
• a team leader, builder and a team player
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills
