![]() Canadian Environmental Auditing Association Certified Health and Safety Management System Auditor CEAA has developed a Certified Health and Safety Auditor designation for those members who practice Health and Safety Management System auditing. The qualification criteria were developed, in part, from the requirements of CEAA's EMS Auditor program based on ISO 19011. CEAA recognizes the work of the British Standards Institute (BSI) in the development of OHSAS 18001, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), and provincial programs such as Partnerships in Health and Safety Programs (Alberta and British Columbia) to develop standards and guidelines regarding Health and Safety management systems and Health and Safety management system auditing. These standards and guidelines represent an important element of the growing field of knowledge and practice which define Health and Safety management and auditing. CEAA has created an Introductory Period for the Certified Health and Safety Management System Auditor (CHSMSA) program. During this period, which extends to 12:00 p.m. on October 31, 2006, alternate criteria for several of the program requirements exist. These alternate criteria will be revoked at the end of the Introductory Period, at which time the regular program criteria only will apply. Full details may be found in the Application Guidance for Certified Health and Safety Management System Auditors. Interested applicants are asked to completely read the Application Guidance to ensure that they have a full understanding of the program requirements for both the Introductory Period and regular program.
